AxialFlow 4000 Case IH, combine harvesters for African agriculture

AxialFlow 4000 Case IH, combine harvesters for African agriculture
Case IH has just launched three new Axial-Flow® 4000 series combine harvesters: the 4077, 4088 and 4099. Designed to meet the specific needs of customers in Africa and the Middle East, these machines put the best harvesting technologies within reach of professional farmers, contractors and equipment rental companies at affordable prices.

Designed in the United States, the Axial-Flow® 4000 series models contain a high number of American-made components for maximum reliability. Their compact dimensions, exceptional comfort and advanced features are combined with high harvesting capacity, thorough threshing, low grain losses, gentle grain handling and outstanding sample quality. These advantages are characteristic of Case IH's Axial-Flow® single-rotor threshing technology, which has become the benchmark for harvesting quality and performance since the first Axial-Flow® combine harvesters were introduced in 1977.

?The 4077, 4088 and 4099 are the most productive combine harvesters in their class,? says Marcin Ruppert, Marketing Manager Case IH for Africa and the Middle East. ?Their simple design allows them to adapt quickly to different crops, field conditions and growing conditions, making them the ideal choice for contractors.?

?Users can switch from maize to wheat, sorghum and rice in a few hours, compared with nearly two days for conventional or hybrid combine harvesters, which allows them to spend more time harvesting and increase seasonal output. Axial-Flow® 4000 series combine harvesters are also very easy for everyone to use, and even novice users who are not familiar with the Axial-Flow® concept quickly learn to make full use of their potential.?

All three models are powered by 6,7-litre Efficient Power FPT Industrial inline six-cylinder engines that comply with Tier III emissions standards and are turbocharged and air-to-air cooled to deliver proven, reliable performance in all conditions. The rated power outputs of the 4077, 4088 and 4099 are 180 ch, 210 ch and 230 ch respectively at an engine speed of 2 100 tr/min, with maximum power outputs of 200 ch, 240 ch and 260 ch reached at 2 000 tr/min. All engines offer excellent torque and optimal fuel consumption, and transmit their power through a three-speed hydrostatic transmission, with a 500-litre fuel tank on all models in the 4000 series.

Axial-Flow® 4000 series, combine harvesters with latest-generation headers

Axial-Flow® 4000 series combine harvesters outperform all other machines on the market in terms of yield and can be fitted with the latest-generation Case IH headers, available in widths of up to 6,1 m or with 8 rows for the corn header. A new feeder housing with a lateral tilt system further increases the versatility of these combine harvesters by allowing them to use the heaviest headers while ensuring perfect ground contour following, which is particularly useful when harvesting soybeans or lodged crops.

For optimal cutting performance, the high-capacity 2060 series headers can be used. Available in widths of 4,57 m, 5,18 m and 6,10 m, they feature a robust mechanical drive and represent the best that header technology has to offer. Axial-Flow 4000 series combine harvesters can also be fitted with a 3020 flexible header of 6,10 m or a 3016 pick-up of 3,66 m for windrowed crops. Case IH 4400 series corn headers offer excellent harvesting capabilities for standing or lodged maize, maximizing the amount of grain harvested, whatever the working conditions.

At the heart of every Axial-Flow® 4000 series model is the legendary Case IH Axial-Flow® rotor, 610 mm in diameter and 2 451 mm in length, which offers a total separation area of 1,23 m2 and rotates at speeds ranging from 250 to 1 150 tr/min. This system has been developed to optimize threshing performance in all crops and increase yields in damp conditions, whatever the type of crop or moisture level, without compromising grain or straw quality.

High-precision grain-on-grain threshing

The grain-on-grain threshing of the Axial-Flow® rotor not only limits grain losses thanks to more efficient separation but also ensures the tank is filled with the highest quality grain to generate maximum value. With only 0,47 % cracked grains on average, the Axial-Flow combine harvester is well below the 1,67 % recorded on a competitor model fitted with conventional threshing components*.

All the new models are fitted with a Cross Flow® cleaning system that uses chevron-shaped fins to create a uniform, high air volume, just enough to obtain the cleanest possible grain sample while minimizing grain loss. Unlike conventional systems, the air is distributed evenly beneath the sieves to eliminate air pockets, while the fan speed is fully adjustable to suit the lightest seeds, which increases cleaning capacity.

High-capacity grain tanks for maximized harvesting time

The large grain tanks fitted on all models maximize harvesting time. The 4077 is equipped with a 5 000-litre grain tank and a 4,1 m unloading auger that unloads at a rate of 63 l/s, while the 4088 and 4099 models have grain tanks of 6 000 litres and 6 500 litres and 5 m unloading augers that unload at the same rate.

The straw chopper, fitted as standard, has two rows of knives in a 2 x 14 configuration for optimal residue management performance. The horizontal two-disc spreader with two-speed control spreads the chopped residue evenly across the field for optimal incorporation into the soil. Customers who wish to bale the straw can choose the optional straw rake for perfect bale formation and optimal density.

To optimize their performance, Axial-Flow® 4000 series combine harvesters offer a spacious and comfortable cab, with more than 3,74 m2 of glass area providing a panoramic view and excellent visibility of the header. Operator comfort is further enhanced by the monitor on the right-hand pillar, the ergonomic layout of the controls and the individually adjustable suspended seat, as well as a high-capacity air filter and the standard heating/ventilation system. Air conditioning is available as an option to provide an optimal environment in the cab.

All two-wheel-drive models in the 4000 series are fitted with 28L-26R1W 16PR front tyres and 14.9R24 R1W 12PR rear tyres. Four-wheel-drive models are fitted with 28L-26 R1W 16PR front tyres and 16.9-26 R1W 12PR rear tyres, while four-wheel-drive versions for rice harvesting are fitted with 28L-26 R2 16PR tyres at the front and 16.9-26 R2 12PR at the rear.

Thanks to their mechanical simplicity, Axial-Flow® combine harvesters have fewer moving parts than conventional combine harvesters or more complex rotary and hybrid machines, making them simpler to operate, more reliable and less costly to maintain.
