NSK presents ball bearing units for agricultural machinery

NSK presents ball bearing units for agricultural machinery
At Agritechnica 2019, from 10 to 16 November in Hanover (Germany), NSK will present a range of bearings developed from the outset for agricultural machinery. These products include the robust housings of the new J-Line series, the ready-to-install Agri Disc Hub housings for soil preparation machines, and numerous examples of customized bearings developed in collaboration with OEMs for the agricultural sector.

Bearings designed for agricultural equipment

Agricultural equipment is one of NSK's traditional core industries. The bearings used in these applications are subject to extreme stresses, where dust, moisture, corrosive fertilizers and heavy mechanical loads are commonplace. NSK bearings for this sector have been developed accordingly and are the result of several decades of experience and accumulated knowledge.

This year at Agritechnica, the spotlight will be on the J-Line series launched in early 2019. These Self-Lube® bearing units comply with the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) and are available in the six most common housing types, with bore diameters from 12 to 90 mm. Thanks to their robust construction and excellent sealing properties, J-Line bearings are used by a growing number of agricultural machinery manufacturers.

Double-row bearings for NSK Agri Disc Hubs

Another highlight of the show is NSK's Agri Disc Hubs, equipped with double-row angular contact ball bearings with a two-piece inner ring that can absorb high axial loads and tilting moments. The Agri Disc Hubs are housed in a robust, ready-to-assemble housing with customer-specific connection dimensions. They also feature special seals designed to withstand harsh operating conditions. The main field of application: soil preparation machines, such as short disc harrows or fertilizing and seeding machines.

In addition, NSK will use the show to present its production capabilities. The NSK plant in Munderkingen (Germany) was founded in 1954 as a bearing production unit for a major agricultural machinery manufacturer. Following its acquisition by NSK in 1990, extremely flexible production facilities were set up to create the conditions necessary for also manufacturing small batches of bearings particularly suited to customer requirements. Examples of these special bearings will be on display.

The stand will also feature machines equipped with NSK bearings, with exhibits highlighting the installation of the bearings in, for example, short disc harrows.
